The full form of VPS is Virtual Private Server. It is a type of web hosting that provides a virtual environment for your website. This means that your website will be hosted on a server that is not shared with other websites. This gives you a number of benefits, including increased security and performance.
VPS hosting is a great option for businesses that are outgrowing shared hosting, but don’t yet need their own dedicated server. It’s also popular with developers who want to test new applications in a live environment without affecting their main website.

What Are the Different Types of VPS?
There are many different types of VPS hosting solutions out there, and it can be tough to decide which one is right for your needs. In this blog post, we’ll go over some of the different types of VPS hosting so you can make an informed decision.
First, let’s start with a brief overview of what VPS hosting is. VPS stands for “Virtual Private Server.” A VPS is a type of hosting that allows you to have your own virtual server. This means that you’ll be able to customize your server to your own specific needs. You’ll also be able to install any software you need on your VPS.
There are two main types of VPS hosting: managed and unmanaged. Managed VPS hosting means that your hosting provider will take care of all the technical aspects of your server for you. This includes things like patching, updates, and security. Unmanaged VPS hosting means that you’ll be responsible for all the technical aspects of your server.
Now that you have a basic understanding of VPS hosting, let’s take a look at some of the different types of VPS hosting available.
Shared VPS Hosting
Shared VPS hosting is the most basic type of VPS hosting. As the name suggests, you’ll be sharing your server with other customers of your hosting provider. Shared VPS hosting is a good option for small businesses or for those who are just starting out with VPS hosting.
Dedicated VPS Hosting
Dedicated VPS hosting is a step up from shared VPS hosting. With dedicated VPS hosting, you’ll have your own physical server. This means that you won’t have to share your server with anyone else. Dedicated VPS hosting is a good option for businesses that need more control over their server or for those who have outgrown shared VPS hosting.
Cloud VPS Hosting
Cloud VPS hosting is a newer type of VPS hosting that combines the best aspects of both shared and dedicated VPS hosting. With cloud VPS hosting, you’ll have your own virtual server that is hosted on a cloud platform. This gives you the flexibility and scalability of the cloud, as well as the dedicaed resources of a VPS. Cloud VPS hosting is a good option for businesses that need the flexibility of the cloud but don’t want to sacrifice the dedicaed resources of a VPS.
Now that you know about the different types of VPS hosting, you can decide which one is right for you. If you’re still not sure, our team at BestHostingSolutions can help you choose the right VPS hosting solution for your needs.
How to Set Up a VPS
A VPS, or virtual private server, is a great way to have your own little server without having to pay for the entire thing. The way it works is that you set up a virtual machine on a physical server. This physical server can be in a datacenter or it can be your own computer. Then, you can connect to this server from anywhere in the world and have full control over it.
There are many benefits to setting up a VPS. For one, it is much cheaper than buying your own physical server. Another benefit is that you can easily scale your VPS up or down depending on your needs. And finally, a VPS is very flexible and can be used for a variety of purposes such as hosting a website, running a game server, or even setting up a development environment.
So, how do you set up a VPS? The first thing you need to do is sign up for an account with a VPS provider. I recommend using Averthost, as they have great prices and customer support. Once you have an account, you can create a new droplet
When creating your droplet, you will need to choose a few options. The first is the size of your droplet. The bigger the droplet, the more resources it will have. I recommend starting with the $2/mo droplet, as it should be enough for most purposes.
The next option is the datacenter region. Unless you have a specific reason to choose a certain region, I recommend just choosing the one that’s closest to you.
The next option is the operating system. For this guide, I will be using Ubuntu 22.04, but you can choose any operating system that you want.
The final option is whether or not to add any additional features. I recommend adding the monitoring feature, as it will give you better insights into your server’s resource usage.
Once you have chosen all of your options, click the “Create” button and your droplet will be created!
Now that your droplet is created, you will need to SSH into it to set it up. To do this, you will need to use a SSH client such as PuTTY (for Windows) or the Terminal (for macOS).
Once you have your SSH client open, enter the IP address of your droplet and click “Connect”. You will then be prompted for your username and password. Enter the username “root” and your droplet’s password.
Once you are logged in, you can start setting up your VPS. I recommend starting by updating your packages:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
After your packages are updated, you can install any additional software that you need. For example, to install Apache:
sudo apt-get install apache2
You can also install other popular software such as MySQL, PHP, and more. Just type “sudo apt-get install” followed by the package name.
Once you have everything installed, you can start configuring your server. This is beyond the scope of this guide, but there are many resources available online to help you do this.
And that’s it! You now have a fully functioning VPS that you can use for whatever you want. If you ever need to upgrade or downgrade your droplet, you can do so from the Averthost control panel. And if you ever need more help, Averthost has great documentation and 24/7 customer support.
